For this assignment, you're going to draw yourself as a mini cartoon known as Chibi. Chibi is a japanese coined term that means 'small person'. Chibi's are usually 2-3 heads tall with a focus on the head and eyes. Chibi is a style that emerged to make characters 'cute'. Chibi style is not only used in Japan, but is also used in the US. Mobile game companies will often draw little version of their characters that are of the same height. Artists online will usually offer chibis as an option for commissions and sell them.
The first thing you have to do is find a chibi style you want to imitate. In the slideshow below, I have a bunch of chibi styles from different artists. If you find a different chibi you want to imitate, show me to get the okay on it. You will them have to choose the height of your chibi. Below is a sheet that shows the body types you can choose from. 2-3 heads is the chibi size, anything bigger than that will appear as a small child height.
If you don't like to draw yourself, then you can choose a friend, family member, original character, or even do a fanart. If you decide you don't want to draw yourself, you have to get permission from me to do something different.
We will have 4 layers. A sketch layer, a lineart layer, a base color layer/shading layer, and a highlight layer. The highlight layer will be the light colors in the eyes, hair, and clothes. Chibis are usually very bright and shiny, so you will have to make yours the same!
