Dream Room is an assignment that focuses on interior design in photoshop. We will be preparing a livable space that you would love to be in.
New Techniques: Distort
Distort is an option that you can use with theTransform tool. Transfrom (you do this all the time with CTRL+T) helps you change the shape and size of an object. In the last assignment you used Tranform's Perspective on the rug. For this assignment you will use Transform's Distort option to fit the carpet and the wallpaper in your room. To use Distort, go to Edit in the top tool bar and find the Transform option. When you click on it, more Transform options pop up. Click Distort. This will create points on your layer's object. You can then drag the points around to fit the object on your wall or floor. I will be demoing this process for you.
Requirements:
Points: 20
Below is a download link to download the file of the original blank room jpeg. You will be adding to this image. Think of it as your room base.

Requirements:
- All 3 walls must have wallpaper. You will use Transform and Distort to make the wallpaper look like it is going back in perspective.
- A carpet. Use Transform and Distort on this too.
- A big window on the middle wall. This window has to look out onto a dream city of your choice. It should be a city that you would want to live in one day. My city is the Italian coast of Cinque Terre. To do this, select and delete the glass in between the panels on the window. After, find a picture of a city and put it on a layer behind the window panel layer.
- A Couch. You must have 2 pillows and a person/creature of your choice sitting on the couch. The living being can be real or imaginary. (think of this person as your guest in your house!)
- A table/coffee table. 5 objects that you like must be on top of the table.
- A television with your favorite show or movie playing.
- A computer (what is a dream home without wifi and a decent internet connection?)
- A rug.
- 2 paintings in frames. You must use Distort on the frames so that they look like they go back into perspective.
- 3 plants/potted flowers.
- 2 chairs. (I have a bean bag and a little cushion stool. )
- A book shelf with your favorite books inside of it. (I have the Harry Potter series.)
- 3 light sources. This can come in the form of lamps, candles, lanterns, or a chandelier.
- 8 other objects in the room, anything of your choice. The majority of my 8 extra things were the cats.
- Room has to be school appropriate and not creepy.
Points: 20

The rest of the semester will be focusing on photo manipulation in Photoshop. Next semester we will be focusing on digital art in video games. We will be using digital tablets for this. Be mentally prepared for that.
